Manzy's Last Dance

Slide Job Racing is dusting off the 360 sprinter in order to go out and run the short track race at the historical Manzanita Speedway this weekend.  This is Manzy's last short track race before it closes it's doors. That's right..... Manzy has been sold and will soon be a parking lot to some crane equipment. This Saturday night is the last night that non wing sprint cars take to the short track. We have the number 10 micro and the 00 360 sprint car ready and loaded for the races. Come on out and enjoy the show with us. April 11th is the the last day that Manzanita will be hosting races.... and we will be there with an army of cars. Ken Caskey will suit up to take on one of the busiest nights that anyone can do in dirt track racing. Jumping from the micro to the midget and then into the sprint car on the 1/2 mile is going to be a huge undertaking. Not to our knowledge has anyone ever done this before. Racing all three open-wheel divisions in one night. In addition to the cars that Ken will be taking, his father Ken Sr. will be driving the teams other micro. Senior raced the stock car ranks in the late 70's and early 80's and really is the reason we got into racing to begin with. We at Slide Job Racing figured it would be a nice gesture to get him into a seat for the last race at the track. We hope he enjoys himself. Make sure you come out and say good-bye to one of the most famous tracks in the world on April 11th. Micro's and Midgets on the short track and 360 Sprint cars on the 1/2 mile. We will be hanging out after the races sharing stories and drinking beers until wee hours of the morning. Thanks for your interest in SLIDE JOB RACING. GOD Bless

We are in the works with Manzanita Speedway to iron out some more details for "Kole's Kids Night At The Races". We have a tentative date set and we are getting some of the particulars confirmed within the next couple of weeks. There will be a "New" toy drive that will benefit multiple hospitals and charities. Hopefully the show and tell at the Phoenix Children's Hospital is a go again. We will post an update as soon as we have more details. Thanks for your interest in Kole's Kids Night at the Races!

The season opener in the Fontana powered Ellis midget was not so successful. The crew (Scott and Josh) got he car ready for mud pack and hot laps long before we were called to the track. Great job guys. We got pushed off and noticed that the power steering pump was leaking and pulled it in. The guys got to work and had the pump completely torn apart, rebuilt and back in the car before the heat race. After being pushed off for the heat the car would not get going.......

'09 Season opener

Saturday March 7th we will be out to Manzanita Speedway taking part in a new adventure for our race team. We will be bringing  out with the newly acquired midget to see how the AMRA guys gas it up for the season opener. We are hoping that the Fontana Automotive powered Ellis will cooperate with us as we are new to the whole midget gig. Unfortunately we have not turned a single lap in the car before we head to the races. Heck, Ken has never even driven a midget before either. Hope all goes well and that we have a good time. As a team we have discussed taking another car to run but we decided that our first time out with the midget it might be a good idea to focus on it alone. We will pull double duty when we are comfortable in doing so and have enough crew at the track. We will post an update on how well or bad things went after the weekend. Come on out and say hey and enjoy the beautiful weather at the track.

Slide Job Racing will start the 2009 season racing with The Arizona Midget Racing Association. With the recent purchase of an Ellis midget we have been getting our ducks in line so we can run the full schedule with the club. We have gotten some financial backing from several of our sponsors in order to make this a reality and it has proven to be a real blessing. Joe Fontana with Fontana Automotive has provided us with a real nice piece for a powerplant for the season. Glad to have you on board Mr. Fontana! We are looking forward to getting our motor stuffed into the car and hitting up a practice session before the season starts on March 7th. It has been a dream since childhood to run with the midgets, so anxiety is at it's highest. Thanks for your interest in SLIDE JOB RACING! See you at Manzy on the 7th. God bless

O God, You gave us a son, and in Your wisdom and love have called him home to You before us. Please listen to our humble prayer: pardon his sins and faults, and grant that we may be reunited safely in Your Presence. Through Your Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ, we beg this of You. Amen.
