| The season opener in the Fontana powered Ellis midget was not so successful. The crew (Scott and Josh) got he car ready for mud pack and hot laps long before we were called to the track. Great job guys. We got pushed off and noticed that the power steering pump was leaking and pulled it in. The guys got to work and had the pump completely torn apart, rebuilt and back in the car before the heat race.After being pushed off for the heat the car would not get going....... | |

....... it just wanted to chug under a load but it would idle fine. We had to skip our heat race that we were scheduled to start on the pole of. The guys got back to work by taking the fuel system out and cleaned all of the fuel filters and anything that had to do with what could have been a problem. We checked grounds, battery and pretty much went over the whole car. We must have had the Desert Rat Push Trucks pop the midget off a dozen times before we decided to try another ignition box. We borrowed an ignition box and she fired right up. We got pretty excited that we would be able to tag the main..... until we were told that we were illegal and would be cheating if we used the ignition box that we had borrowed. You see, it did not have a rev limiter and the rules say that the motor we run needed one. Great! We were allowed to go and take the green flag and complete one lap and get off of the track. They scored us for a 14th place finish and that was that. Not a very good first impression with the AMRA. I hope that things run a little more smoothly the next time out.... 'cause if it doesn't, we will be racing elsewhere. Given the benefit of the doubt..... we hope that we will have a good 'ole time on April 11th at Manzanita with the AMRA. |
