July 3, 2009 Congratulations to Eric Welker on his first trophy dash win! Kurt Stults started from the pole and took a commanding lead for the entire main event. Erik Morine went for a wild ride, flipping multiple times down the back straight. He was able to walk away from the crash and get his car repaired for Saturday's race. Ken started the night with a second place finish to a very fast 93 of Justin Quinn in the second heat. After a few changes to the chassis we started the main in the 10th position as we opted to tag the field. After a few laps Ken found himself running third behind the 34 of Stults and 93 of Quinn. Ken worked and worked to get around the 93 and was finally able to do so coming out of turn 4 coming to the checkers. We feel like we settled for a 2nd place finish as we think the car was fast enough to win. Congrats to Kurt on his win and a thank you to Justin for the fun, race long battle. July 4, 2009 Ken Caskey took home two trophies, as he came from a second row starting position to earn the main event win. He took home his first trophy of the night winning the trophy dash sponsored by RCA Motorsports. We started the night off on the pole of the dash because of the second place finish in the second heat from the night prior. We pulled away from the field in the four lap dash and nabbed our first trophy of the night. We had a pretty good pill draw that put us on the poll of the second heat with the fast 93 starting behind us. With the wrong track conditions set up on the car Ken did all he could to hang onto the car and was passed by Quinn on lap 4 but was able to hang onto 2nd. With the second place finish in the heat and a pill 6 was pulled for inversion we started the main from the 3rd position. We were not going to tag this night as the track has some funky rules about not passing on the initial start until blah blah blah. At the drop of the flag we were in second place going into turn one and stayed that way for the first 3 laps until Ken was able to actually get along side of the 37 of Eric Welker and make the pass going into turn one. Some contact was made as Ken took the low line away from Eric and the 37 was sent to the marbles at the top, lost control and spun out. This set up a single file restart on the front stretch. Ken was lined up first with the 93 of Quinn in tow. Ken stood on the gas and never looked back for the remaining 12 laps. Thanks to Rick Alexander for the trophies and to the AMSA for a fun and relaxing weekend. There was a short field of cars, but we had fun none the less. We will be up in Prescott in a couple of weeks for some winged racing on a short, little and flat track. Wish us luck and thanks for your interest in SLIDE JOB RACING. GOD Bless |
